No zoomy-zoomy ships, but our intergalactic adventurers seem
more on their game in this one.
At last! An episode
where our folks are back in character and their actions make a little bit of
sense. Well-paced, a few funny moments, Ronon and Teyla playing detective; I’m
pretty happy. I love it that Sheppard wants Rodney along on his missions, even
when he’s doing an ostensibly quick strike. Really I would say that of course
he wants Rodney to have a look around in the Genii base in case of technical
information that could be strategic, and also he needs him to verify that the
ZPM is functional. Except that I know it’s just because he has to have his
boyfriend nearby as often as possible.
I still yearn for the episode where Rodney and Ronon
are left in charge of a children’s dormitory on the planet of the really large
cats, but obviously they haven’t written that one yet. Or the one where
Sheppard and Ronon have to fight their way through a maze of really terrifying
traps and monsters to save Teyla and Rodney from certain doom, while T. and R.
give them puzzle-solving and monster-handling tips over their comms. Did they
do that yet? No, wait, not yet. Oh, or the one where Rodney is kidnapped and
made chief wizard to the amusingly bubbly sultan, and Sheppard has to fight a
duel to win him back, only he fell down the stairs in the gateroom and Ronon
has to fight the duel. And Teyla thinks the whole thing is funny until she
meets the second vizier’s concubine, Bob, with whom she is instantly smitten.
And, and Ronon wins Rodney and then tries to get Sheppard to pay for him with
chocolate, since he won him fairly. And when Sheppard gets all indignant, Ronon
auctions him off in the mess hall. Fortunately for Rodney, Zelenka wins
the auction.
