It will surprise no-one when I say: I love my shows!
Having re-watched Scarecrow and Faith, I am absolutely ecstatic over the status quo of Supernatural, and have every hope of tonight’s being enjoyable too. After my extremely qualified squee over the last several episodes of SG:A, I am happy to
Obviously John and Rodney are squabbling again. You can tell because John’s hair’s a little less incredibly untidy than usual. Maybe they had one of those “just because we have great sex every day and twice on Sundays doesn’t mean we are gay, at least I’m not, though you, with the hair product… hey! That’s my masculinity you’re threatening, okay fine, you just see if I’m still into women” arguments. They are holding up a wonderful tradition of being whiny, bitchy, or quite pouty whenever a woman threatens to become sexually available to the other one.
Still, they fight so entertainingly! I can’t regret their little spats when they make me laugh. And, squee-fest in my chest, John totally trusts Rodney again, he makes it absolutely plain. Rodney saves the day again, Ronon is all over the episode being helpful and heroic and shooting fond/amused looks at Rodney, warm/sympathetic looks with Teyla, and respectful/right-behind-you gazes at Sheppard. Teyla is smart and leaderly (and hot, so very hot), and Elizabeth. Well.
Elizabeth does useful diplomatic things. Hurrah! Even better, she and Radek have a moment to talk. True love can be made from such moments, if you have a handy keyboard and a fertile imagination.
The plot was fun, the interactions were good, the girl-of-the-week was clearly a symbol of John and Rodney’s snarky concealed passion, and the special effects were neat. I love volcano effects, and spaceships, and don’t forget the zapping. Zapped from space in the nick of time is always good on my planet. Plus the whole Star Trek visual reference was pretty funny, if a little lame.
ETA: Did anyone else notice the shout-out to helenish and sinsense, with Elizabeth being all sex-positive while John bitched about his slutty boyfriend?
