Little bit of a beginning idea for the Dark Tower story where Roland and Jake of New York find a farm and each other, instead of going on to the Dark Tower. Must finish the series before going much farther.

There are other worlds than these, as the wise ones know.
Many years and many more and long, long before the years could be counted, the Old Woman danced on her tired legs, spinning out her tattered shawl around her. In her hands she held the World Jar, goodness canned before time began. Her hands were gnarled with pain, and when Young Jack came running to tease her, she dropped it. All the glittering shards of the World Jar flew out in a fine spray.
Now we find sharp edges in our worlds, like as not.
When Roland of Gilead came to one of his many crossroads, he behaved invariably as if the choice he made stood for all time and eternity, and perhaps in some world it did. But once and in one place Roland had a choice whether to travel with Jake Chambers to a world of ignominy and simple pleasures, or to make sacrifice to the gods of duty. Here and in this world, he made the right choice. So say I, who am the son of Jake Chambers and Lilybelle Chambers, and the stepson of Roland.
