Just finished reading Pet's story "Mandolin". (It's at Bury Me on waxjism.net)
Beautiful. I love the way she handled Chris' anger and depression, and her playful and rich depiction of the band members who show up as extras in this tale. Pet does wonderful work, as always, with harmony and clarity in her writing, and even the objects in this story became vivid to me.
Unfortunately I think I over-identified with Hostile!Chris and am now in a Mood.

On the bright side, (see my inner JC come into play), I did type up another tiny fragment of what I'm coming to see as my "Justin is a borderline sociopath" series.

So I'll keep it brief.

The Strange Thing;

Freak of Nurture
Part B
sgb

JC Chasez becomes passionately involved in everything that he does. Love affairs are immense and often become tragic, sensitive stories that he rarely will discuss. Career highs and lows lift him up and crush him in the rhythms of his success and failure. His friends and family have his heartfelt loyalty whether he verbalizes his commitment or not. All blows aimed at him by those he loves strike home. It makes him appear impervious; he has been hurt so many times that he can weather pain with aplomb, quivering lips and glistening eyes notwithstanding. He does not realize until he is in his twenties that not everyone feels life so acutely.

He doesn’t love Justin Timberlake, at least not love as he knows it.

In the heat and noise of JC’s world Justin is a cool breeze. When Justin puts an arm around him he feels a sudden sense of distance that soothes and allows him to expand with new breath. He doesn’t love Justin, but he thinks lately that he’d like to be under that strong arm all the time.

When their lips meet, Justin is in love and JC is free. Neither knows if he likes the feeling.
