And, and,
Am I the only one who saw the Sheppard/blonde kisses as him schmoozing in hopes of escape? Because I've seen them described as hot and suchlike, but to *me* he seemed confused and gay, and also like he was thinking, "okay, yes, what?" and with his social skillz didn't want to offend the princess while he was a prisoner.
Now I'm saying, I don't mean I was fanwanking in my head, I mean that's how it looked to me watching the scene. No chemistry whatsoever, totally freaked out Sheppard faking niceness like he always does. He turns on the flirt machine, and women give him what he wants. He was a prisoner! If I had read it differently, I'd be thinking he was an idiot. And in my head, he is feckless and reckless and rude, but not stupid. And note, he kept talking to her, which is how he got the genetic studhorse information.
Also, the form of the show was farce, and homage, and am I wrong in thinking that the social rules wherein men don't openly turn down women's sexual approaches reign in these types of stories? The scene was a parody of Kirk-like manwhoring. I thought it was funny, and his obviously reluctant compliance was even funnier.
But maybe I'm just watching differently.
