I've signed up for my first ever ficathon, and. Ergh. Now I remember why I don't do that. I have the pairing I want, though, and a plot all lined up. Well, since it's mostly pwp plot is optional, but I have my action list. But I've never written femmeslash before, so that should be fun and new.

House has got me, though it often sucks and the basis of the show's philosophy is horrible and foolish. I blame Hugh Laurie, his huge talent, and the fact that I adore him. Also, House (the guy, not the show) is plainly mad about his buddy Wilson. Cuddy, the hospital director/administrator/thingy is growing on me a lot; they costume her stupidly but the actor brings life into her lines. That is a good thing, for the dialogue requires saving by talented actors. It isn't always bad, but without Hugh I don't think I could deal. The only drawback to his skills is that he makes me laugh when he's being a complete freak of a controlling sadist. And oh, yeah. Wow! Perfect American accent. Impressive.

Death Note has me completely, I can't wait for the next issue. Yagami-san is so adorably proper! Light-kun is so (spoiler)! L still owns me, especially when he munches his bananas and sugar cubes like a little genius monkey.
I still think the story was much stronger before the introduction of some of the comic elements, especially Misa and the excessively stupid new Kira. The humor previously was darker and more subtle (Ryuk, anyone?), and if Misa had been allowed to be an more believable person her storyline would be much more interesting to me. Her early actions are almost completely amoral, and the whole plot hinges on competing moral paradigms. That could have been better developed. Allowing her to be "purified" by virtue of obsessive love for a man rubs my fur the wrong way. Hmm, now I want to read a story which takes the Misa we see early on and expresses that character with full weight, sans paternalistic ret-cons.
Mmph, I wonder if I were more pure in my love for DN, less critical, would I be made pure? Probably not.
Food for thought.*g*
